It depends on size. Using published national rates, junk removal's whole price range is at or below a dumpster for jobs up to about 11 cubic yards (half a junk truck). From about 18 cubic yards (roughly 7 pickup loads) up to a 40-yard, a dumpster costs less than even the low end of junk removal. In between, compare quotes.
The bag is about $29.98 at Lowe's, and WM charges a separate pickup fee quoted by ZIP code. A third-party guide puts typical pickups at $120–$200. Each bag holds 3 cubic yards and up to 3,300 lb, with no more than 1 cubic yard of heavy material.
HomeAdvisor's national average is $241, with most jobs between $133 and $372. Most price by how much of the truck you fill, often in eighths, and the quote includes labor and disposal. Some, like LoadUp, price per item instead.
When the job is a few bulky items, when you need it gone in one visit, or when lifting and carrying is the hard part. On bigger jobs it costs more than a dumpster, but the crew does all the work.
