In Castle Rock, you don't need a permit for a dumpster on your own driveway. The city doesn't publish a rule specifically for dumpsters on the street, so before placing one on a street, sidewalk, or other right-of-way, ask Castle Rock Public Works ((720) 733-3527) whether a right-of-way permit is needed. Cities that publish a rule generally require one.
A driveway or private lot avoids the city permit in Castle Rock. If the only spot is the street, measure: a 20-yard needs about 25 feet of curb length and 10 feet of width.
Call (720) 733-3527 or use the city's website to request a right-of-way or encroachment permit. Ask for the current fee and any insurance or reflector requirements.
Expect to give the address, the container size, the delivery and pickup dates, the hauler’s name, and sometimes a placement sketch or proof of the hauler’s insurance.
Plan on a few business days. Book the delivery for after the permit is issued, and keep a copy on site.
Many Castle Rock neighborhoods with HOAs limit how long a container can sit, even on a driveway. The city permit doesn't override HOA rules.

Many haulers include about a week in the base price and charge a daily fee after that, so ask for the extra-day rate when you compare quotes. If the dumpster is on the street under a permit, the permit's end date is the limit.
