Short answer: a 20-yard dumpster in metro Atlanta costs about $525 for a 7-day rental, with most quotes between about $445 and $605. A 10-yard runs about $450 and a 40-yard about $750. On your own driveway you don’t need a permit. On a City of Atlanta street you need one from the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT).

Atlanta dumpster prices in 2026

These are midpoints from six publicly listed Atlanta-area hauler price lists, checked in October 2026. Listed prices ran from about $315 to $895 depending on size, rental length (5 to 14 days), and included weight, so treat them as a starting point, not a quote.

SizeTypical priceUsual range
10-yard$450$383–$518
15-yard$490$417–$564
20-yard$525$446–$604
30-yard$625$531–$719
40-yard$750$638–$863

When you compare quotes, line up the rental length and the weight allowance. A cheap 5-day, 2-ton quote can cost more than a pricier 10-day, 4-ton one once overage fees hit.

Street permits in Atlanta and nearby cities

The rule is the same almost everywhere in the metro: driveway, no permit; street or sidewalk, permit. What changes is who issues it and what it costs.

  • City of Atlanta: ATLDOT issues dumpster and storage-pod permits. The published fee is $20 plus $10 a day for up to 100 linear feet of lane, with higher daily rates for longer spaces. Call (404) 330-6501.
  • Brookhaven: Public Works issues dumpster permits through its right-of-way permitting system, for up to 30 days.
  • Dunwoody: Public Works issues residential dumpster parking permits. Apply at least 3 business days ahead; permits run up to 30 days.
  • Other cities (Marietta, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Lawrenceville, McDonough, and the rest): contact the city’s public works or transportation department before placing a container on the street. Our Georgia city pages list the department for each.
  • Unincorporated Gwinnett County: construction and demolition hauling is limited to county-authorized providers, so confirm your hauler is on the list.

Where Atlanta-area debris goes

Your hauler picks the disposal site, but it’s worth knowing the options because some facilities only take local waste:

  • Cobb County Transfer Station serves Marietta, Smyrna, Kennesaw, Acworth, Powder Springs, and Mableton. Published rates are roughly $60 a ton for Cobb residents and $70 a ton for non-residents.
  • Seminole Road Landfill (DeKalb County) charges about $100 a ton and takes waste only from DeKalb residents and licensed DeKalb businesses.
  • Fayette County Transfer Station lists $48 a ton for household and commercial trash; construction debris isn’t listed as accepted.
  • Coweta County’s C&D landfill and transfer station charges about $57 a ton and accepts only waste from inside Coweta County.
  • Private landfills such as Pine Bluff (north metro), Richland Creek (Gwinnett), and Pine Ridge (south metro) take much of the region’s construction debris.

Tips for renting a dumpster in metro Atlanta

  1. Ask for a 7-day price with the weight allowance in writing. It’s the easiest way to compare quotes.
  2. Book the permit first if the container goes on the street. Dunwoody, for example, wants 3 business days’ notice.
  3. Check HOA rules. Many metro neighborhoods limit how long a container can sit in a driveway.
  4. Use boards under the container to protect your driveway, and ask the hauler to place it where the truck can reach it again.
